6 Reasons to take a Virtual Art Class

Are you getting tired of lockdown life? If so, here are six reasons to try a virtual craft class

March 5, 2021

Anyone feel like they are living a bit in a Groundhog day recently?! To say that lockdown life can be repetitive is a bit of an understatement. However, many people are finding new ways to have fun and socialise. From virtual escape rooms, to cook alongs, virtual running and even movie watching! I bet we have all tried something that we never thought we'd do. Here in the studio, we have had to go outside our comfort zone and run many of our classes virtually. It's been so much fun!

We've had people take a class with their friends or colleagues, their family and kids and even just with strangers as an opportunity to connect with new people and try something different.

Feeling tempted? If so, here are 6 reasons to take a virtual craft class.

Reasons To Take A Virtual Craft Class

There Are Hundreds Of Options

There are lots of different virtual classes for you to choose from. You can make homemade jewelry, you can upcycling old furniture in your home – you can even learn how to learn how to print lino! This means that there is an interesting virtual craft class out there for everyone; all you need to do is have a look at the options to see what appeals to you the most.

You Can Socialise

Some virtual classes allow everyone to switch their cameras and microphones on, which means you can chat and relax together as you craft. This is ideal for people who are feeling lonely during lockdown, especially if they live alone. It also makes it easier to maintain relationships with people you haven’t seen for a long time, as it means you can actually do an activity together (instead of just chatting on the phone). Sam particularly loves hanging out with his mum in this way and over the last few months they have tried Calligraphy, Lino Printing and lots of Watercolour virtual classes!

You Are Not Limited By Location

Remote classes aren’t limited by location. It doesn’t matter where you are based; if you see a remote class you like, it is very likely you will be able to join. This means that you can choose between literally thousands of online courses, including courses abroad. Just make sure to check the time difference before signing up to a virtual craft class abroad!

A Virtual Craft Class Is Often Cheaper

Virtual classes are often cheaper than in-person classes. This is because you don’t need to use a commercial room for the session, and sometimes you may already have the supplies at home. This makes the classes very affordable, so you don’t have to break the bank to book a class.

You Will Learn New Skills

One of the main reasons to take a craft class is that you will learn new, valuable skills. From sewing to painting to macramé, there are lots of skills you will learn – and some of these skills could even help you to set up your own creative business in the future. Virtual craft classes can also help to hone more basic skills, including communication skills and IT skills.

You Can Take The Class From The Comfort Of Your Own Home

Virtual classes also don’t require you to leave your home; you can do everything from the comfort of your own sofa or bed! You also don’t need to dress up, or make any extra effort for the class; you just need to join the class and get started. This low pressure environment is perfect for introverts or people who are struggling with their self-confidence.
