Company wellbeing and creativity

Is there a link between the two? Let's find out!

May 24, 2022

Exploring and finding the thing or series of things that make you feel present on any given day can really help your wellbeing and productivity - in work and life.

What do I mean by being ‘present’? When you are doing a task or in a meeting, that it is your sole focus and you are not distracted.

Having your vision for your role or company, spending time planning, getting advice and continued learning help, but not being really present can reduce your chances of doing a good job.

An example morning routine:

  1. Bed 10 / 11pm - aim to get 8 hours sleep, no looking at tech within 1 hour before
  2. Up at 6 / 7am, drink water
  3. Take Heights tablets (greatfor brain health – website here, 20% off here)
  4. Cold shower – boosts immune system
  5. Journal to get all the thoughts out of your head and write down 2-3 things you would like to do that day -in life and / or work
  6. Read for 20+ minutes – when I read, time really slows and gives me focus
  7. Go for a walk in the park or exercise or meditate or get creative or call a friend or do something else or nothing!

Everyone is different. But it's worth trying to find the sustainable routine that works for you, to experience:

  • Greater attention span for the right things
  • More energy
  • Better decisions
  • People feeling more specialin 1:1s, as you really in the room (virtually or not!)

Starting each task or meeting thinking ‘what is a good outcome for this?’, helps too!

M.Y.O (‘Make Your Own’)is a creative studio for grown ups, that helps companies, teams, friends andfamilies explore their creative side (and have some fun!) through over 14different arts and crafts classes. Over 5 years we’ve helped 10,000s of gueststo explore their creative side in our Central London studio, off-site at events& offices and virtually.

Benefits for a company employees in being more creative (everyone is creative btw!), are:

  • Reduced stress & anxiety
  • An expanded sense of time
  • More out of the box thinking = better decision making!
  • Boosted confidence and feelings of pride & connection

Arts & crafts aside, you could also dabble with poetry, music, journal, performance, build a train set, bake and so on. The key is to experiment and play, whilst trying to find what creative outlet you enjoy, to reap the wellbeing benefits.
