The beautiful thing about living in London is that you can never fully explore the city.
There is always a new shop, a new restaurant, or a new event popping up and the different boroughs are also constantly undergoing changes.
Nonetheless, the wealth of options in this city can be quite overwhelming at times.
When I moved here, I, unfortunately, did not have a guide to filter the events that would be the most relevant and fun to me.
For this reason, I would love to be your guide for today and introduce you to five creative things to do in London you should definitely try this September:
1. Attend the London Design Festival
I attended the London Design Festival last year and loved the many unique installations across time. I particularly loved one by the designers at @50M and enjoyed exploring parts of London I have not been to before like Islington and Mayfair. This year it's on from Saturday 18th September to Sunday 26th September.
There were also tons of goodies since so many brands participate so bring a huge bag!
2. Walk Along The Line
All the street art lovers among you or those of you who are looking for inspiration for sketches should put down in East London very high up your list of places to go to.
The Line is London’s first dedicated public art walk.
The route runs between the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and The O2. If you ever wanted to try urban sketching (Drawing parts of the city as you pass by them), a walk along The Line would be the perfect time and space to try.
In association with the exhibition “No Comply: Skate Culture and Community” at the Somerset House, Vans is setting up a skate park at the Strand with FREE lessons, I repeat, FREE lessons!
If you ever wanted to try skateboarding but never had the space or equipment to do so, here is your chance! There will also be family skateboarding lessons and talks and workshops inside the house about the creative and inclusive culture of skateboarding.
4. Capture the changing seasons in Hyde Park
Now that the summer is slowly starting to fade away and autumn is setting in, there is a lot of new beauty that can be captured in places like Hyde Park. Although some of the changes are very subtle, they can still become very obvious if you pay close attention and try to capture them in art.
So take the day off, grab your favourite art supplies, sit down at Hyde Park and start drawing your surroundings. You could also turn this into a weekly trip, watch the seasonal change progress and document how autumn is maturing in your sketchbook.
Clerkenwell Design Week will take place between the 22nd and the 25th of September.
It is best known for its impressive contemporary design displays and immersive brand experiences. If you want to discover some of the most innovative design companies and start-ups as well as get some free goodies, Clerkenwell Design Week should be up on top of your list for places to go this September.
I went two years ago with a friend and really enjoyed exploring the district, looking at the different open-air and indoor exhibitions, and being showered in promotional gifts.
Did I mention there will also be free coffee, drinks and snacks?
