Who doesn't love a tassel earring! It's the perfect way to instantly jazz up any outfit. AND it's super easy to make your own, so you don't have to go trawling the shops for the perfect colour. Here we'll show you how to do a version with beads, but if you'd prefer just tassels then you can skip that part. Let's get started!

You'll need:

• A skein of embroidery thread in what ever colour you fancy
• Scissors
• Pliers
• 2 x jump rings
• 2 x ear hooks
• 2 x eye pins
• A piece of cardboard, around the size of a credit card
• An embroidery needle
• 4 x beads of your choice

First, cut a small 0.5cm slot in the top of your piece of cardboard.

Use your pliers to open the jump ring. It's better to split it open sideways, rather than pull it apart so you don't warp the shape.

Place the open jump ring in the top of the cardboard, so the gap is at the top.

Take your embroidery thread, and hold the end in place at the bottom of the cardboard. Using your other hand, wind the thread around the cardboard, passing through the open jump ring each time. Aim to wind around 20-30 times.

Once you've finishing wrapping, trim the end of the thread and close the jump ring again with your pliers.

Slide the thread off the cardboard.

Cut another piece of thread approx 30cm long, and thread it on to an embroidery needle.

Take the other end of the thread (opposite to the needle) and wind it around the tassel, as close to the jump ring as possible.

When you've run out of thread, poke the needle up through the section you've just wound and down the other side. Trim any excess.

Now, cut the end of your loops to make your tassel.

For a fluffier tassel, separate the strands of floss using a wire comb or even the tip of your needle.

Place two beads on to an eye pin and cut off the excess with your pliers.

Use your pliers to bend the end of the pin in to a hoop

Close the hoop around the jump ring at the top of the tassel.

Use your pliers to open the hoop on the ear hook and attach it to the hoop at the top of the beads.

Do it all again to make your second earring - and there you have it!
