1. So, tell us a little about you.

I am a Mexican ceramic artist making my way into the City of London. I lived in Boston USA for the previous 4 years and before that I was born and bred in Mexico City. I have been in the creative realm as far as I remember and I intend to continue producing in the creative field.

2. What artist are most inspires you now?

Javier Marin, a Mexican artist, has inspired my work and my style of working the most. He is mostly a large scale figurative sculptor. His pieces are considered to be impressionistic surfaces (like that of French artist Rodin) and expressive poses.

3. What do you create mostly for work and what do you create mostly for fun?

I create tableware for work and sculpture for passion. However, I love making both of them!

4. What piece of work are you most proud of?

This piece is a series of 7. Together they are meant to be dancers inspired from the native maize ritual back in Mexico during the Aztec Empire (1200-1500).

5. Do you think people are just born creative or is it something everyone has, but many don’t explore?

In believe creativity is another muscle in the body. Every one has it. It needs to be exercised.

6. What’s your favourite colour? Why?

Yellow, because it is bright and adds sparks of light in the room. I love that it is also the M.Y.O colour!

7. If you could give advice to yourself growing up, with the benefit of hindsight, what would it be?

More play less work - there is plenty of work when you are older!

8. What / who made you decide to become a professional creative, rather than doing it as a hobby?

I luckily come from a creative family. My father and architect, my mother a musician, my grandmother a painter, my aunt a sculptor. I dare say I was born into it.

9. What makes you most happy?

Simplicity.

10. What’s next for you? What you would like to be doing in 12 months?

Since I just arrived to London a couple of months ago, 12 months from now I want to be fully settled, connected in the artist community of London, establish myself as a potter, and really develop the pottery workshops that I teach at M.Y.O.

11. Is there anything exciting coming up that you would like to let people know about?

I am currently working on two commissions for local restaurants in London. One in my own neighborhood, Hackney, a restaurant called Pigin. My other commission is from a world renowned Mexican Chef, Santiago Lastra, who is inaugurating his own restaurant Kol by Marble Arch this upcoming August.
