Spring Crafts

March 15, 2023

Spring is slowly starting to peek through the grey rain clouds, making it the perfect time for creativity to blossom. Whilst it’s not quite warm enough to spend all your time outdoors, there is certainly more motivation in the air with the sun shining and flowers starting to grow.

Getting lost in something creative feels like the start of spring, it breaks through everyday thinking and allows for new connections to be made. Laying down a path of colour, imperfection and expression in the form of the creative process you are embarking on. The positives of creativity are immense, from developing new neural connections and improving cognitive function to relieving stress in turn promoting mindfulness.

With spring in mind here are a few crafts to try to embody the season of spring at its fullest.

Bring nature inside with flowers that you can’t kill! You can make such a wide variety of different flowers with different techniques. Our favourite is to use crepe paper as it gives such a delicate realistic look to the flowers. If you want to try this springalicious craft but don’t know where to start join us in the studio for a flower making workshop.

Nothing screams spring more than eggs, even if there is a shortage. Jazz up your kitchen with decorated eggs or simply enjoy the process of getting creative. There are so many ways to achieve this from painting to decopace. You can use real eggs or get paper ones from hobby craft.

Practising mindfulness isn’t something that should be singled out as a springtime activity, it’s always a good time to be mindful. With colours starting to emerge out of the grey and grass finding its vibrant green it’s easy to draw inspiration from nature and create a colour picture. Whether you want to be mindful and focus on nature whilst drawing or fully let your mind wonder and create something abstract.

Bring some of the colours in with a pom pom garland. This is a great craft to try, it’s really easy to make and looks so good. All you need to get started is some cardboard and some string. Here is a great tutorial to get started.
