Corporate queens guide

to 2023

December 28, 2022

Let's talk 2023 for all those corporate kings and queens out there looking to slay the new year!

  1. Why creativity is key
  2. Process the feels
  3. Set clear work goals
  4. Get away from those screens

Why creativity is key

Doing the same thing but expecting a different outcome is the definition of insanity according to Albert Einstein. Creativity is fundamentally about looking at or doing something differently, being able to see something from another perspective is an effective way to process information and problem-solve. Being able to do this is the key to success as the journey to your goal is never a linear path, there will always be obstacles that get in the way or problems that need to be solved. Creativity is often a skill or asset that is put on a pedestal to make it seem unreachable for many, there is a perception that you have to be ‘talented’ to be creative. We’re here to tell you that that is a load of rubbish and that you are already creative. Flex those muscles and the skill will grow, from painting to embroidery the skill is simply determination and a creative outlook. A skill we know you already possess.

Process the feels

Feeling the feels will be in this year, well it should be every year because to thrive at work or in your personal life you need to have a handle on your emotions. There are so many ways to feel your feels in a healthy and positive way. Managing emotions isn’t something they teach you at school and really it’s a lifelong journey to understand yourself. If you want a guide on managing your emotions click here. Some creative ways to sit with your emotions are through journaling, meditation, embroidery, doodling or anything that promotes mindfulness. At this time of year, we focus so much on our goals but tend to leave out how we are going to process emotions and physically look after our well-being. Make sure you include that in your plan for 2023, if you want a goal-setting sheet click here.

Set clear work goals

As a corporate girly we know you want to thrive at work, here's how:

  1. Set clear goals for yourself and work towards them consistently. This will help you stay focused and motivated, and allow you to track your progress over time.
  2. Be proactive and take initiative in your work. This can help you stand out and demonstrate your value to your employer.
  3. Network and build relationships with your colleagues and other professionals in your industry. This can help you gain valuable insights, learn new skills, and open up new opportunities for career advancement.
  4. Keep learning and developing your skills. This can help you stay current and competitive in your field.
  5. Seek out mentors and sponsors who can provide guidance and support as you navigate your career.
  6. Take care of yourself both personally and professionally. This includes things like setting boundaries, prioritising work-life balance, and taking care of your physical and mental health.

Get away from the screens

Step away from those screens! Whilst the world of virtual and WFH is the new way forward, let's take a step back to simpler times away from the screens. Once you’ve read this, get outside, doodle in a notebook or do anything that is away from the phone, TV or laptop. Life can’t be lived through a screen #inspo. Getting out in nature has and will always be a remedy for humans to reconnect and reset from a busy or hard work day, when it’s cold that's hard so make sure you prioritise time away from the screen this year.
